Ramsey MCC trials are held throughout the island. Classes are catered for all levels of rider. There are sportsmen, clubmen, expert, twinstock and sidecars. Trials are scored by marks lost. Marks are lost when riders put there feet down or stop when riding over observed sections such as boulders, streams, mud patches etc. A typical local trial is four laps of eight sections and the rider losing the fewest marks is declared the winner. Longer events might last two days and occasionally six days, but weekend events are more usually 32 sections on closed areas. Bikes are fairly cheap to purchase and maintain, with a fairly competitive one being bought for around £1500 or new ones for around £3500. Sidecars tend to be solo bikes with special constructed chairs welded on. Classic bikes are also catered for, with genuine machines are replica’s. For closed area events, no road insurance is required, but a competition licence is needed. Solo Trials Entry is £12 Adult and £7.50 Schoolboy, or £15 Adult for a runaround. Sidecar Trials is £15 for a crew or £18 for a runaround. Signing on is normally on the day of the event. |
